Personal Miki

Miki is a cancer survivor, has been married since 1975, and is the mother of two adult children. Her experience with psychiatric nursing; marriage; being an adoptive mom; parenting children with learning disabilities; caregiving; losing loved ones to suicide—and accessing counselling herself when necessary—has given her unique sensitivity and empathy.

Miki actively volunteers with her local church and community groups. She enjoys singing in a choir, gardening, and writing.  To wind down, she enjoys reading and knitting.

“The deep truth is that our human suffering need not be an obstacle to the joy and peace we so desire, but can become a means to it.”
Henri Nouwen
